ASUU Puts Hold on its 10-month-old Strike

Asuu suspends strike

The Academic Staff Union of University ASUU, this morning Wednesday, December 23, suspended its ten-month-old strike that started in March 2020.

The announcement was made during a briefing of the union in Abuja by the ASUU National President, Biodun Ogunyemi

Furthermore, Biodun Ogunyemi stated that the union would reinstate the strike action if the government fails in meeting its part of the agreement reached with the university lecturers which enabled the strike to be called off in the first place.

He noted that the reopening of the schools, considering the COVID-19 pandemic, lies with the Federal Government and Senate.
