- Dusting Vs. Dipping
(i) Animals should be kept clean. Practice a high level of sanitation.
(ii) Isolation of new stock and ensure they are free from infection.
(iii) Regular dipping of animals is required.
(iv) Dipping, spraying and dusting animals with appropriate insecticides like ascaricide solution. Acaricides are pesticides used to kill ticks and mites. Acaricides include arsenic solution, DDT, etc.
(v) Regular grooming of the animal’s body.
(vi) Hand-picking ticks from the body of the host animal.
(vii) Regularly disinfecting animal houses.
(viii) Overcrowding should be avoided.
(ix) Paddocking should be practised.
(x) Vaccination should be practised.
