An ideal ration is feedstuffs that contain all the essential components of a balanced ration which can fulfil all the needs of a particular animal when given according to its body weight

It should possess the following characteristics:

(i) It should contain all the essential nutrients like protein, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins in the right proportion as needed by the animal.
