- Characteristics of a Good Ration
An ideal ration is feedstuffsfood provided for cattle and other livestock. More that contain all the essential components of a balanced ration which can fulfil all the needs of a particular animal when given according to its body weight
It should possess the following characteristics:
(i) It should contain all the essential nutrients like protein, fats, carbohydrates, minerals and vitamins in the right proportion as needed by the animal.
(ii) It should be of good quality, tasty and desired by the animals.
(iii) It should encourage the farm animal to consume the ration.
(iv) The ration should be digested properly.
(v) The ration should be affordable.
(vi) The ration should be free from toxins.
(vii) Rations should have the right texture.
(viii) It should be easily available locally.
