  • Types of Technology
    • Developed
    • Under-developed

Technology dates back to the primitive era but has vastly improved over the years. Before technology, man relied on simple primitive tools to make life easier. Stones were used in making fires, sticks were used for digging the ground, and so on. The use of these tools required a lot of energy, and also resulted in the wastage of time and resources.

Over the years technology has improved, and advanced technology has led to an increase in productivity, for example, it can take days to dig the ground with a stick compared to minutes using modern farm machines and tools.

We can therefore categorize Technology into Developed and Under-Developed Technology.

1. Developed Technology:

This is the type of technology that makes use of modern methods and the application of science to solve problems. Examples include using airplanes, cars, trains, etc, for transportation.

airplane
Airplane is a developed technology.

2. Under-Developed Technology:

This type of technology is the application of indigenous, or traditional technology, to provide for one’s needs. Examples include using a horse-drawn cart or trekking as a means of transportation or gong as a means of communication.

gong 2
Gongs were used decades ago by town criers as a means of communication.
