- Uses of Building Materials
1. Cement:
Cement is a very important building material in construction that is mixed with water, sand and gravel to make concrete. It is a binding agentA binding agent, or binder, is a material or substance that holds other materials together mechanically, chemically, or as an adhesive, to form a cohesive whole. More that sets, hardens, and adheres (sticks) to other materials to bind them together.
2. Aggregate:
These are crushed granite, gravel, and sand. They are used as base materials in foundations, roads and railways. They are classed as either coarse (stones), medium or fine (sand) types. Concrete is the combination of cement and aggregate.
