The People of Nineveh Repented (Jonah 3:1-10)

The people of Nineveh were wicked and did many evil things to each other. God sent Jonah on a mission, to preach repentance, and warn them against God’s intending judgment of their wickedness.

At first, Jonah refused and headed for Tarshish instead (Jonah 1)

Jonah later went to Nineveh and called for the people to repent their sins (Jonah 3:1-10)

If they refused to repent; “Forty-days Nineveh would be overthrown”.

However, all the people of Nineveh, including their king, cattle’s and beasts, fasted, wore sackcloth, and sat in ashes. They cried in repentance to God. They asked for forgiveness, and abandoned their evil ways, God saw their genuine act of repentance, forgave them, and healed their land.

The King Of Nineveh Repents To God.

When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he relented and did not bring on them the destruction he had threatened. (Jonah 3:10)
