- Life in God’s Service (1 Peter 2: 18-25)
Living our lives in a manner that is pleasing to God is very important. When we do this we are also living our lives in Service to God. The Bible passage of 1 Peter 2: 18-25 tells us how to serve God, this is what it says;
In 1 Peter 2:18, we see that we are supposed to be obedient to all those in authority over us. We are not only supposed to obey those in authority who we think are kind, gentle and understanding. We are also supposed to obey those who are wicked, difficult and selfish. This is because it is good to endure pain and suffer when you do not deserve it, just to please and obey God.
It is not honourable in God’s eyes if you suffer or are punished because you have done wrong. However, God sees it as honourable if you suffer or are treated unfairly when you did not do anything wrong and you do not complain, retaliate or give up.
This is what being a Christian is all about. Jesus Christ lived his life as an example of how we are to live our lives in service to God. He suffered for us but He had not committed any sins or told any lies. He committed to live his life according to the Will of God. Even when He was being crucified, He did not insult or treat anyone badly, He did not even try to stop it because of the pain He was in. He allowed God’s Will to be done.
Through the suffering of Jesus Christ, we have been healed. Jesus bore our sins, so that sin will not be able to control our lives and we can live in righteousness. As Christians, we were going astray but now we can return to the Overseer of our Souls, God.
There is more to being a Christian than just going to church or singing in the Church choir, it is about how you live your life and most especially how you act when you find yourself in unfavourable, unjust and sometimes, downright wicked situations.
Living your life in God’s service is to be faithful and serve God with all your might and tolerably endure all negative situations or hardships.
