This feature helps to correct detected errors of grammar and spelling in Word. To make corrections at just one instant, place the cursor on the word or group of text that Word flags by underlining with green or red lines and right-click to summon the menu.
Red indicates potential spelling errors, green indicates potential grammatical errors, and blue indicates contextual spelling mistakes.
Contextual spelling errors are words spelt correctly but used incorrectly in the sentence, indicated by a blue wavy underline.

You can press F7 on the keyboard to open the Spelling and Grammar dialog box.

The dialog box will display:
- “Not in Dictionary”: This shows words or phrases that are not recognised by the spell checker.Â
- “Suggestions”: This provides alternative words you can use to replace the incorrect one.Â
You can then:
- Click the correct word from the Suggestions box and then click “Change” to correct the error.Â
- Click “Ignore Once” to ignore the error in the current location, “Ignore All” to ignore the error for all instances of the word in the document, or “Add to Dictionary” to add the word to the dictionary for future use.
AutoCorrect:
AutoCorrect is a feature that automatically corrects common spelling mistakes, typos, and formatting errors as you type.
It works by replacing a misspelt or incorrectly formatted word with the correct version as soon as you press the spacebar or another character after the word.Â
To use AutoCorrect in MS Word:
Go to File > Options > Proofing > AutoCorrect Options
Select the AutoCorrect tab.
You can customise AutoCorrect to automatically correct common misspellings, insert text or symbols, or add your own custom replacements. To enable or disable the feature, check or uncheck “Replace text as you type” on the AutoCorrect tab.
