Useful Hints on How to Write a Good Narrative Composition

1. Content:

For the candidate to do well under narrative composition, he should develop a sharp perception of events, and make sure the narration illustrates the topic.

2. Organization:

A well-organized story has a beginning, a climax and a conclusion.

3. Expression:

The writer uses vocabulary that reflects the atmosphere appropriate to the events. There is a mixture of short and long sentences as well as variety in sentence patterns. Some accounts are given in the present simple tense while past tense is used to narrate some events.

Suitable topics for descriptive writing include:

  • My favourite food
  • My country in ten years’ time
  • The last birthday party I attended.
  • The novel I like best
