  • Vocabulary – Words Associated with Road

Many drivers take to the road without obeying road traffic signs. These road traffic signs are not there for decoration. They are meant to be obeyed so that accidents can be avoided. Much attention has to be paid to the condition of the vehicles that use the roads. Many of the vehicles are not road-worthy. They have faulty brakes or even no brake at all.

Vocabulary – Words Associated with Road:

Passenger – a person who is not driving but sits in a car.

Seat belt – a safety belt in cars that protects drivers and passengers.

Carpool – a group of people who ride in the same car.

Lane – a single ‘path’ on the road.

Speed limit – the fastest speed that you are allowed to drive on the road.

Parking space – a place where cars are parked.

Traffic jam – when too many cars are on the road.

Pedestrian – a person who is walking on a side or across the road.

Zebra Crossing – the white stripes at intersections where pedestrians cross the road.
