What is Poetry?
Poetry is a literary work in which special interest is given to the expression of feelings and ideas by the use of distinctive style and rhythm.
Types of Poems:
1. Ballad: It is a poem written to express the heroic past of a village or a community.
2. Narrative Poem: It is a story told in verse form.
3. Lyric: A lyric is a short poem that expresses the poet’s thoughts and feelings and is meant to be sung to the music lyre.
4. Epic: It is a long narrative poem that dwells on the adventures and achievements of one or more great heroes.
5. Lullaby: It is a song specially created to appease a weeping child or rock a baby to sleep.
6. Sonnet: It is a poem of fourteen lines.
7. Dirge: It is a funeral song, poem, expressing grief or mourning.
