- How To Help Adolescents Grow and Develop Good Behaviour
1. Parents should understand the stage their children are in and should be more tolerant, try to talk to them regularly and advise them in a way they can understand.
2. Parents should meet the needs of adolescent children within the limits of available family resources.
3. When an adolescent’s behaviour begins to get out of hand, the parents/guardians need to make firm/strict decisions to help correct their behaviour.
4. Parents should communicate freely with adolescent children, listen to their problems and share their views while advising and encouraging them.
5. Parents, teachers and other adults should lead by example and model good behaviour, such as respect, empathy, responsibility, and integrity so that adolescents can learn through observation.
6. Adolescents can be motivated when they are praised for positive behaviours, such as showing kindness, working hard in school, showing respect to others, doing their chores without being asked, etc.
