- Common Volleyball Injuries

1. Cramp: Muscle cramps are a common occurrence in volleyball and can be caused by dehydration and overworking of the muscles.
2. Sprain: Ankle, wrist. An ankle sprain is the most common injury among volleyball players, most often occurring when a player lands from a spike or a block and comes in contact with another player’s foot. Repetitive serving, spiking and volleying can cause wrist sprains.
3. Fracture: Finger fracture is a common injury in volleyball.
4. Dislocation: Dislocations are a common type of injury in volleyball, often occurring in the fingers or shoulder.
5. Muscle strain: A muscle strain occurs when a muscle is overstretched or torn.
6. Knee pain: The nature of volleyball requires repetitive explosive jumping, which places a lot of stress on both Knees leading to pain and injuries.
7. Lower back pain: Back pain in volleyball players is very common because of repetitive bending and rotating of the trunk. Strain of the lower back is the most common back injury.
8. Shoulder injuries: In volleyball, the shoulders are used often for overhead serving, spiking and blocking, which commonly leads to shoulder injuries.
