What is Social Studies?

Social Studies as a school subject deals with the study of man and his activities in societyThe term society is derived from the Latin word 'socius' meaning friendship or companionship. It is the study of man in his physical and social environment.

Social Studies, therefore, is the study of how man influences his social and physical environment, and how his physical and social environment, in turn, influences him.

Man in social studies refers to human beings.
