What is Socialization?

Socialization is the process of learning about the norms, values, beliefs, attitudes, and skills needed to be accepted in your society. It is a lifelong process and goes on throughout one’s life.

Socialization can be defined as a process by which the individual acquires knowledge, language, social skills, and values to conform with the norms and roles required for integration into their group or community.

It is a learning process that begins at birth and continues till death. It is also the transmission of ideas, culture, and knowledge to the next generation. Through socialization, an individual acquires their personal identity and learns the behaviour that is appropriate in their community.
