Forms of Energy
Topic Content:
- Forms of Energy
- Solar, Heat, Light, Mechanical, etc.
There are different forms of energyEnergy is the ability to do work. Energy exists in several forms such as heat, kinetic or mechanical energy, light, potential energy, and electrical energy. Units of Energy: The SI unit... More such as:
1. Solar energy: can be used to bring about electrical energy. It is gotten from the sun.
2. Heat energy: can be used to produce steam, used by steam engines to do work.
3. Light energy: when it falls on a light meter it is useful in photography.
4. Mechanical energy: (potential and kinetic).
5. Electrical energy: is used to drive the electric motor and for heating purposes.
6. Sound energy: it causes a microphone’s thin plate to vibrate.
7. Chemical energy: it is the energy stored in food and fuels.
All these forms of energy are convertible, that is, we can change energy from one form to another.
The universal law of conservation of energy states that “energy can neither be created nor destroyed, but it can be converted from one form to another within a system”.
