Topic Content:
- Refining of Crude Oil
Once oil has been produced from an oil field, it is treated with chemicals and heat to remove water and solids and the natural gas is separated. The oil is then stored in a tank and later transported to the refinery by truck barges (a long-narrow, flat-bottomed boat for transporting freight on rivers and canals) or pipelines.
Crude oil is refined into products such as gasoline asphalt, etc. by a process called Fractional Distillation.
