Force Ratio: This is defined as the ratio of load to effort i.e.

force ratio =  \( \frac{Load \; Lifted\:(N)}{Force \; Applied\: (N)}\)

Force ratio could be greater than one or less than one, when it is greater than one, it is called Mechanical Advantage i.e. the ratio of the effort is less than the load. When the force ratio is less than one, it is called Mechanical Disadvantage i.e. the ratio of effort is greater than that of the load.
