What are Ceramic Materials?
Ceramics are non-metallic solids made by the action of heat on clay. The temperature needed to transform soft clay into hard ceramic is extremely high.
They are hard, brittle, heat-resistant, and corrosion-resistant materials.
Most building household items are made from ceramics. These include:
- Bricks.
- Blocks.
- Glass windows.
- Plaster of Paris (which is used medically for holding broken bones)
- Pottery – This is the art of using clay to make various objects (clay pots)
- Cement.
- Bottles.
- Tiles.
- Waterpots.
- Cooking pots.
- Serving plates etc.
