Maintenance of woodwork machines simply refers to the care of machines and machine tools so as to prolong their efficiency and ease of use.

Below is a list of woodwork machines and the steps you need to take to maintain them:

1.Portable power tools (Belt sander, hand drill)i. Check to be sure the guards are not damaged.

ii. Check and ensure electric cables are not broken to avoid electric shock.

iii. Keep in a safe place after use, away from moisture.
2.  Circular sawi. Clean regularly with a brush to remove sawdust.

ii. Blunt blades should be sharpened or replaced if broken.

iii. Store in a dry place or a toolbox to prevent rust.
3.Surface planeri. Clean regularly to remove sawdust and lubricate moving parts.
4.Drill pressi. Clean surfaces to remove dust and moisture.

ii. Lubricate the drill chuck regularly.

iii. Check and replace worn-out belts.

iv. Remove wood chippings during and after every operation.
5.Wood lathei. Clean the tapers, the headstock, the tailstock, and the bed regularly to remove chippings, shavings, dust, and moisture.

ii. Lubricate the moving parts.
