  • Meaning of a Disciple

Who is a Disciple?

A disciple is a pupil, student, or follower, who believes in the ideas of a leader, especially a religious or political leader and tries to live according to those ideas.

A disciple learns lessons and receives guidance from their leader, and afterwards, can also go out to teach others what he has learnt from his leader during his lifetime.

Examples of some great teachers who had disciples were Mahatma Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Socrates, Aristotle, etc. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the greatest teacher that ever lived.

Applied to Jesus, a disciple is someone who learns from Jesus to live like Him; someone who, because of God’s love, conforms his or her words and actions to the words and actions of Jesus.
