The Fore-Runner of Jesus (Mk 1:1-8, Luke 3:1-20)
The Fore-Runner of Jesus (Mark 1:1-8, Luke 3:1-20)
A fore-runner is one who prepares the way for the greater one.
He lays the foundation for the work of the master.
John the Baptist was the fore-runner of Jesus Christ.
John was sent to prepare the minds of the people, through the baptism of repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.
John told them to forsake their sins such as fighting, stealing, cheating, lying, fornication, adultery which were against God.
John the Baptist emphasized that their sin has separated them from God.
Some of the people that John the Baptist preached to were the tax collectors, the soldiers, and all the people.
However, the people accepted the word of repentance. John baptized them in the River Jordan in Galilee.
Therefore, thegreater one which John the Baptist preached about was Jesus Christ.
