- Meaning of “Parable”
What is a Parable?
A Parable is a simple story used to illustrate a moral or spiritual lesson, to teach a great truth or to challenge the hearers, to teach an important truth or to challenge the hearers to change their behaviour.
The Parables we find in the Bible, are earthly stories with heavenly meanings or implications.
The Parables in the Bible use a familiar, easy-to-understand concept to explain an unfamiliar concept. They cause the readers or listeners to discover the truth on their own, while at the same time concealing the truth from those too lazy or too stubborn to understand.
All the parables we read in the Bible have the same purpose, they reveal the truth of God to believers and at the same time, they hide the truth of God from non-believers.
