The Miracles of Jesus

The Miracles in Nature of Jesus Christ:

The Miracles Jesus Christ performed in Nature demonstrated Jesus’s power over nature. It shows Jesus Christ has absolute control over the natural things and events we see in nature.

The Miracles Jesus Christ performed in nature are as follows:

a. Turning water into wine at Cana John 2:1-11.

b. Calming the storm Luke 8:22-25.

c. The feeding of the five thousand. Matthew 14:13-21.

d. The feeding of the four thousand. Matthew 15:32-39.

e. The walking on the water. Matthew 14:22-27.

The Healing Miracles of Jesus Christ:

Healing was a major part of Jesus Christ’s ministry on earth. Jesus healed the sick and those suffering from various ailments and infirmities. Jesus also healed people who were possessed by evil spirits.

Jesus was so compassionate with the sick because Jesus Christ knew that their sickness was affecting the quality of their lives and their mental state. He knew their sickness would stop them from enjoying their lives.

Sometimes Jesus would go to meet the the person with the problem to heal them. Other times, the people who suffered from diseases or were possessed by evil spirits were brought to Jesus Christ by their friends or family members.

In many cases of the miracles Jesus Christ performed He needed the people who were asking him for a miracle to show Him that they had faith in Him and believed in the power of God. For example “The healing at the pool” in John 5: 1-9, Jesus told the paralyzed man to “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” Although this paralyzed man had not walked in thirty-eight years, he believed Jesus’ words got up, picked up his mat and walked. He demonstrated his faith in Jesus’ words.

Jesus healed everyone both Jews and foreigners. This shows us that salvation is for everyone who believes and accepts Jesus as the Son of God. 

Some of the healing miracles of Jesus include:

• The healing of the centurion’s servant. Matthew 8:5-13.
• The healing of the paralytic man. Mark 2:1-12.
• The healing of the Gerasenes demon-possessed man. Mark 5:1-19.

Jesus’s Power over Death:

During the time Jesus Christ was on earth and His ministry here, He came across people who had died. He sympathized with their family members and went even further to grant the requests of the family to perform the miracle to bring their loved one back to life. 

Jesus raised the dead to show us that God had power over death. He also performed these miracles to show us that someone who had passed (died) could be brought back to life because He knew after His death God would bring Him back to life.

These two examples demonstrate two different occasions where Jesus brought someone back to life; 

1. The raising of the widow’s son at Nain. Lk 7:11-17.
2. The raising of Lazarus John 11:1-44.

Jesus Christ showed us His power over death in the Bible, Jesus’ power over death is illustrated in the verse below:

Jesus said to her, 

“I am the resurrection and the life.

The one who believes in me will live,
