The Great Commission (Matthew 28: 16-20)

The disciples went to Galilee to wait for Jesus as he had instructed. This was immediately after the resurrection. They waited patiently, when Jesus finally came, they worship him and he gave them the “Great Commission concerning their preaching teaching and baptism of the whole world.

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Matthew 28: 19-20

Likewise, the Gospel according to Mark recorded that Jesus gave the disciples the Great Commission and the signs that will follow.

The Significance of the Great Commission:

1. To carry on with the work of Jesus.
2. The nature of their work.
3. The benefits of obeying the commission.
4. The essential role of evangelism in Christianity.
5. The importance of Miracles, signs and wonders.
