Some of the causes of electoral malpractice are discussed below;
(1) Desperation: The determination of individuals and political parties to win and lead at all costs makes members get involved in all forms of malpractice.
(2) Attractiveness of Political Office: Political offices in Nigeria are very attractive in terms of salary, incentives and power, hence people tend to invest in them and may use dubious means to attain a position by any means necessary.
