  • Pillars of Democracy

For democracy to be sustained in any country some supporting factors must be in place, these factors help the establishment, sustenance and continuity of democracy in a country. Pillars of democracy are the backbone of democracy, they are the things that make democracy work properly and without them, it will be difficult to sustain democracy.

The Pillars are highlighted below;

1. The Law-Abiding People: For democracy to work there must be full participation and support from the people. These people are also called electorates and they constitute the voters who vote for their political leaders. They can also be referred to as the pressure group.
