Inequalities can be solved in the same way as ordinary equations.
Rules for Solving Inequalities:
1. An inequality remains true if we add, or subtract the same quantity from both sides.
e.g. 7 > 5 will also be true if:
(a) 7 + 3 > 5 + 3
10 > 8 (true)
(b) 7 – 3 > 5 – 3
4 > 2 (true)
2. An inequality remains true when both sides are multiplied by the same positive quantity
e.g. 8 > 4 will also be true if:
