  • Cylinder – Surface Area of a Cylinder

A cylinder has three surface areas 

  1. Two circular surface areas
  2. A curved surface area

When a hollow cylinder is opened at both ends, we have this net shape

The Total Surface Area of a Cylinder (T.S.A) = Circular Surface Area + Curved Surface Area 

Formulas for Surface Area of a Cylinder:

1. Curved Surface Area: 

The curved surface area of a cylinder is derived from a rectangle

Where when folded, the length becomes the circular base and the breadth of the rectangle becomes the height of the cylinder.
