Drug abuse is defined as the illicit use of drugs in ways that are not approved by medical practitioners.
It is also the taking of any substance for a purpose other than what it is meant for, in a manner that affects an individual’s health or social life.
When drugs are prescribed and the patients do not follow the instructions strictly, for example, taking three more tablets than the recommended dosage, this can also be seen as drug abuse.
