A door is a flat, solid barrier, fixed to an opening in a wall that allows coming in (access) and going out (exit) of buildings, rooms, compartments and corridors. The primary function is to restrict unauthorized access to an enclosed space.

In Nigeria, the standard door size is about 7 feet high by 3 feet wide i.e. 2133 mm by 914 mm.

Functions of a Door:

i. Doors provide privacy.

ii. It resists harsh weather like rain, sun, dust, etc.

iii. It beautifies a building.

iv. Doors provide access and exit from buildings and between rooms, compartments and corridors.

v. It resists heat and sound.

Types of Doors:

There are different types of doors used in building works, some of them are;

i. Panelled doors:

4 panel door
4-panel wooden door.
5 panel door
5-panel wooden door.
9-panel-wooden-door
9-panel wooden door.

ii. Glazed doors: Glass panels are provided for glazed doors. Examples are fully glazed and partially glazed.
