  • Peaceful co-existence is living together in peace with other people.
  • It describes the condition in which there is no war, no violence, no fighting, no quarrelling, no disorderliness, no intolerance, no disagreement, no misunderstanding, no division, etc.
  • It is a situation in which there is; Harmony, tranquility, quietness, calmness, love, forgiveness, friendship, understanding, tolerance, unity, law and order among individuals or groups in society.
  • Abraham shared the land to live in peace with Lot.
  • Isaac exercised patience and forbearance to live in peace with the Philistines.
  • Esau reconciled with and forgave Jacob to live peacefully with him.
  • Philemon forgave Onesimus, after his confession, and lived with him in peace again.
  • We cannot avoid co-existing with others.
  • There are problems arising from lack of peaceful co-existence e.g. backbiting, indiscipline.
  • We should show the desire for peaceful co-existence by
    i. Settling disputes and quarrels amongst ourselves.
    ii. Listening to good advice to us through dialogue.
    iii. Seeking reconciliation in place of retaliation.
    iv. Being religious tolerance.
    v. Avoiding going on strike.
