The features or characteristics of the Nigerian constitution include:

1.  Preamble: This is an introductory statement of the past history of Nigeria. it includes where, whom, and the purpose of the constitution.

2.  Structure Of Government: It states the structure of government that is operational in the state.

3. Political Institutions: A constitution will specify political institutions that will be created and their powers.

4. Party System:It will define the party system that will exist in a state, for example, one-party system, two-party system, or multi-party system.

5. Citizenship: It also defines citizenship and ways of acquiring citizenship.

6. Rights and obligations of Citizens:It contains a list of fundamental human rights, citizens of a state can enjoy. It also explains the responsibilities and obligations of its members.

7. Type of Government: It will contain the type of government the country will operate, for example, the Presidential or Parliamentary system of government.

8. Amendment procedure:It also contains an amendment procedure.

9. Tenure: The constitution stipulates how long a government can stay in power, the system of government to be operated, and the process of operating it.

10. Supremacy of the Constitution: The supremacy of the constitution, simply means, that the law of the land is above every citizen, no one should consider himself/herself higher than or above the law of the land. 

11. Objectives: The constitution states the objectives of the Nigerian nation, within and outside the nation.
