Topic Content:

  • Meaning of Anti-Virus
  • Anti-virus Software Preventive Measure

Like the human body, a PC is vulnerable to infection by viruses. These software viruses, like their organic counterpart, can produce a variety of symptoms in their hosts, while some computer viruses can multiply without causing obvious problems; others cause malicious problems, which might cause the system to hang. In extreme cases, files and even entire hard disks, or data on the flash disk, can be wiped out because of a virus infection.

anti-virus

What is an Anti-Virus program?

It is a computer program written to scan a computer’s memory, or mass storage devices, for destructive and harmful programs, otherwise known as viruses, that attach themselves to executable programs.

These Anti-virus programs are regularly updated, in order for them to be effective on newer versions of viruses.

Anti-virus Software Preventive Measure:

There are many free anti-virus software on the Internet, and it is recommended that if you download anything or surf the net, you should have a program installed.

Getting a virus, like the boot sector virus, is a good way to make your life frustrating. Prevention of infection is simple. Users should avoid sharing removable disks, and illegally downloading software since the virus, can be transmitted through both ways. Removing disks from drives, before starting up a computer, can also spare a user from infections since viruses can reside in removable disks. Installing live antivirus software, that actively assesses threats to a machine, is a must.
