A suffix is a word or syllable placed after a root word to form another word e.g. ness, -ment, -er, -shio, -ation, -ant, -less.
Derivate is a word formed from another word. In this respect, it can change a verb or an adjective to a noun with the aid of the suffix.
How a word ends (its suffix) may tell you whether it is a verb, a noun, or an adjective.
