What is a Formal letter?
A formal letter is a letter written to somebody with whom the writer has no personal relationship. It is a business or an Official Letter.
It is strictly impersonal. The formal letter is not addressed to the name of a person but the title or designation of the person, e.g.The President, The Principal, The Chairman of a Local Government, The Commissioner of Police.
Features of a Formal Letter:
i. Address of the writer and date.
ii. Designation and address of the recipient.
