Worked Example 3.1.1:
Find the sum of the following:
a. 89 and 98
b. -75 and 105
c. -6.8 and -7.5
d. -7, -89 and 56
Solution
a. 89 and 98 = 187
b. -75 and 105
⇒ 105 – 75
= 30
c. -6.8 and -7.5
⇒ -6.8 – 7.5
= -14.3
d. -7, -89 and 56
⇒ 56 – 7 – 89
= 56 – 96 = -40
