When dealing with calculations involving power of 10 you can use the rules of indices as follows.

a) 10ⁿ × 10^m = 10^{n + m}

e.g.

(i) 10³ × 10² = 10³⁺² = 10⁵

(ii) 10⁸ × 10^-3 = 10^8+(-3) = 10^8-3 = 10⁵
