Recall that when two shapes are similar, the ratio of their corresponding sides is the same. This ratio is called the scale factor or length ratio.
Example 6.1.1:
The scale factor of two similar triangles ABC and PQR as shown below is 2.5 if AB = 12 cm and AC = 10 cm, find the length of:
(a) PQ
(b) PR
