What are Health-Related Components of Physical Fitness?

Health-related components of physical fitness are those components that are very necessary for the survival of an individual, which the individual can’t do without.

Health-related components are as follows:

a. Body Composition:

We have lean body composition and body fat composition. When the ratio of the proportion of lean body mass is higher than the proportion of body fat, we say that such an individual is healthy.

Lean body composition is a sign of physical fitness because it decreases the risk of heart disease. On the other hand, a large amount of fat around the abdomen increases the risk of heart disease, certain cancers, stroke and diabetes. Body composition can be improved by the maintenance of a healthy weight, healthy diet and physical activities like aerobic and anaerobic exercises.

b. Flexibility:

Flexibility is the ability to move the joints through a full range of motion without pain. Each joint has a separate range of motion, and stretching the joints and muscles on a daily basis enhances flexibility.
