There are 2 types of conflict namely:

1. Violent/Armed conflict

2. Non-violent/Social conflict

1. Violent/Armed Conflict:

Any disagreement or fight that involves the use of arms and dangerous weapons can be said to be violent. It is an aggressive expression of people against each other which results in the use of dangerous weapons to fight each other thereby leading to loss of lives and properties e.g. Boko haram, Acts of banditry, etc.

2. Non-Violent/Social Conflict:

This can be likened to the “cold war”. It is a situation where violence or the use of weapons is not involved in the disagreement process. It involves the use of the media, peaceful demonstrations, strikes, etc, to express one’s distaste of a situation.
