Before lipids can be absorbed into the body, they must be broken down. The enzyme lipase breaks down fats into fatty acids (carboxylic acids) and glycerol, which is facilitated by bile in the liver.
Uses of Fat:
1. Fats serve as insulators especially when stored under the skin to prevent heat loss.
