(i) Botanical Classification:

In botanical classification, plants are subdivided into divisions, classes, orders, families, genera and species based on their structure.

(ii) Agricultural Classification:

In agricultural classification, plants are classified based on their specific uses and the plant organs which are harvested.

1. Cereals: They are mainly cultivated for their grains. They are rich in carbohydrates and fibre. They are monocotyledonous plants e.g. rice, maize, millet, guinea corn, wheat, oat, barley.
