  • Crop Pests
crop pests

The most common crop pests globally are insects. They are highly adaptable to different environments.

Insects reproduce rapidly and can cause extensive damage to crops in the field and the store.

Pests of crops attack different parts of the plants.

(i) Some pests attack the leaves. Insect pests such as grasshoppers, beetles, caterpillars of moths, and butterflies are common examples.

(ii) Some insects such as Aphids, mealybugs, and stem borers feed on the shoots of plants. The shoot borer lays its eggs on the shoot of plants. On hatching, the larvae feed on the shoots and cause wilting of leaves & eventually death.
