- Processes which Liberate Carbon (IV) Oxide into the Atmosphere
- Processes which Remove Carbon (IV) Oxide from the Atmosphere
- Human Activities and Carbon Cycle
Plants use up carbon dioxide during the day and provide us with carbohydrates and oxygen. We use the carbohydrate and give out carbon dioxide which the plants use and the cycle goes on. This process is known as the carbon cycle.
The amount of carbon (IV) oxide in air is about 0.03% by volume and it is constant. This is because the rate of the removal of carbon (IV) oxide from air, by photosynthesisPhotosynthesis is the process by which green plants, and some algae and bacteria, convert the energy of sunlight into chemical energy. This energy is then used to synthesize carbohydrates such as... More and by dissolving in rain, is equal to the rate at which the gas is produced.

Processes which Liberate Carbon (IV) Oxide into the Atmosphere:
1. Combustion or burning of substances containing carbon. Examples: coal,
