A.   What is a Phrasal Verb?

A phrasal verb is formed when a verb combines with a prepositional or an adverbial particle.

(i)    Preposition:

A preposition is a word which is used to show the relationship between one noun or pronoun and another.

Examples:

a) The book is on the table

b) The oranges are for me

c) He shared the oranges between the two boys

Other words commonly used as prepositions include across, after, as, at, because, of, before, by, from, in, in front of, like, near, to, under, above, below, beneath, up, with, off.

(ii)   Adverbs:
