Adjuncts are better known as adverbs. In this lesson and the next, we will be looking at single-word and phrasal adverbs, both known as adverbials, and how they function. We will also look at some prepositional phrases which also function as adverbials.
i. Adverb:
An adverb is a word used to modify a verb, an adjective, or another adverb.
Examples:
a) Nonye walked to school slowly. (The adverb slowly modifies the verb walked)
b) Bassey is an extremely lazy boy. (extremely modifies the adjective lazy)
