  • Differences Between Weather and Climate

Although weather and climate seem quite similar to the layman and are often confused with one another, presumably because they are composed of the same elements, that is, solar radiation, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, precipitation, etc. They are quite different, listed below are some of these differences;

Weather Vs. Climate:

WeatherClimate
Weather is the atmospheric condition of a place over a short period (hours, days, weeks, hours and/or months). Climate is the average condition of a place over a long period of time usually between 30 to 40 years.
Weather changes very often (even on an hourly basis).Climate does not change very often.
Weather cannot be generalised (this means the weather recordings derived are specific to an area).Climate can be generalised (this means the climate recordings derived can be used over a general area).
Weather describes the atmospheric condition of a small specific area.Climate describes the atmospheric condition of a large area.
