  • Scope and Nature of Geography

Geography is a Social Science Subject because it studies man and his activities within his environment, and the natural physical features (such as mountains, deserts, islands, plains, plateaus, etc) on the Earth’s surface.

To be more accurate, Geography studies different people, in various places and the activities performed in specific areas such as farming, trading, fishing, manufacturing, and construction.

The subject involves the study of different countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, the USA, the United Kingdom, etc.

Geography also deals with the study of the natural phenomena of heavenly bodies such as the sun, moon, planets, etc. It cuts across many other fields of human study, such as agricultural science, biology, history, economics, anthropology, etc.
