- The Landforms of the Earth

Landforms are features on the Earth’s surface that make up the terrain.
Within the Earth’s crust, the movement of tectonic plates produces landforms. As these landforms are created, they are exposed to the agents of denudation (weathering and erosion) like wind, waves, rain, rivers, frost and ice, which regularly work on them, modifying their surfaces to give different appearances.
The Earth can create landforms by pushing up mountains and hills. Erosion by water and wind can weather and erode land, creating landforms like valleys and canyons.
On the Earth’s surface, there are three major types of landforms. They are:
(i) Mountains.
(ii) Plateaux.
(iii) Plains or Lowlands.
